Commodore 64 Repair - 3
C64 - Fault "Dead"
![]() Really nice clean C64 sent to me with a DEAD fault.. also required JiffyDos upgrade ![]() Humm.. Not so DEAD now is it? Cursor isn't flashing though :( ![]() No flashing cursor generally points to the character rom and in this case it was. As luck would have it, it's in a socket! ![]() If your capacitors have leaked like this, replace them now before the PCB dissolves like this. ![]() All capacitors replace, heatsinks stuck on. ![]() JiffyDos kernel swap switch installed in video H-L gap. No drill required!
![]() Commodore test harness proves 6526 has passed on ![]() NOPE!.. ![]() Back in it's box.. Hold on.. Who fitted a blue LED!! Not sure if it's good or bad? ![]() |

![]() It's nice and clean inside too! ![]() 4.76v - PSU only fit for the bin ![]() Unfortunately the SID was also duff.. Bought 4 off an Ebay seller.. Only one worked! Marvellous.. Seller sorted me out though.. replaced them for workers ![]() Both capacitors in the video box have leaked.. Probably due to heat. ![]() All socketed!.. So lucky, JiffyDos installed, switch routed to the H-L video slot. ![]() A wonky PSU can kill.. Under-voltage increases the current drawn by each chip.. Seems to have burnt out the CIA ![]() Another socketed chip! Surely, that's the last chip.. ![]() At last, that's it.. Check your PSU before it eats your chips! ![]() |
